This week Matthew & Janet from MS Queensland came out to my work place to present understanding MS in the workplace to my colleagues.
They spoke about the disease and explained how it affected the nervous system. They went through various symptoms and how the symptoms may impact people living with MS in the workplace.
They shared real life examples of others living with MS, some of whom had quite significant disability and how with MS Queensland’s assistance they were able to support them to maintain employment.

Matthew and Janet (pictured above) showed us some really cool equipment and technology that can be used at work and home to maintain employment. Matthew – you’ll have my wish list tomorrow!
As the presentation was winding up Matthew asked if I was ok and still wanted to talk. My legs had gone numb but I still wanted to share my story.
Sharing my MS journey with my colleagues was tough. There were many moments where I had to pause to regain control of my emotions.
None of this would have been possible without the support of our General Manager who consistently leads the way through his acts of kindness, honesty, integrity, humility, passion and the ability to empower those around him.
It’s moments like these that make me proud of the organisation that I work for and my colleagues that I work with.
